Vessel SAFETY Examinations

A Vessel Safety Check is a courtesy examination of your boat (Vessel) to verify the presence and condition of the Safety Equipment required by State and Federal regulations. The Vessel Examiner is a trained specialist and is a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Examiner may also make recommendations and discuss safety issues that will help to make you a safer boater.

The Vessel Safety Check is neither a boarding nor a law enforcement activity. No citations will be given as a result of this visit. We will supply you with a copy of our evaluation so that you may follow the suggestions given. Vessels that pass will be able to display a distinctive VSC decal. This does not exempt you from law enforcement boarding, but lessens the likelihood that you will be stopped for a check on the water.

Vessel Safety Checks will be provided at Easton Point each Saturday and Sunday from May 17 through Saturday, July 5, 2008.  Additional Safety Checks will be scheduled at Tred Avon Yacht Club, Miles River Yacht Club, and Tilghman Island; check back here for the schedule for those sessions.
